SEGA ARCADE DEVELOPERS
[ BACK TO MAIN PAGE ] - [ SEGA HARDWARE PAGE ]

Sega has, in my opinion, always turned out some of the most original and definitely the greatest arcade games. This is largely due to the huge amount of talent in its software development teams, of which most people up to recently knew nothing of, as up until 2000 the arcade development teams were merely internal teams known simply as AM1 to AM5 largely going unnoticed apart from the mighty AM2.
In 2000 Sega decided to make each development team into its own mini software house, and they all took on new names apart from AM2, who chose to keep their original and well known and revered name...

So on with the Developer groups, ordered by their original AM Division

The legendary Sega developers headed up by the legendary Yu Suzuki. Held in almost reverential regard by both other software teams and other companies.
Single handedly responsible for more arcade milestones, classics and hits than most other manufacturers put together.
Their back catalogue is a who's who and whats what of classic arcade games from 1985 with Hang On to Outrun 2 on the Chihiro in 2004.
